I was working on another reticule bag when Ben remarked that the shape was like a goldfish bowl, and suggested that I needed to make a goldfish bag.
So here it the Carpette Bag, and it’s gold (get it? Little carp? sorry, we are into puns at my house)
The bag starts with a tab, then you pick up stitches around the sides, and work the bag in the round.
The goldfish design is outlined in twist stitches, and filled with various textures, slip stitches and knit/purl patterns. The eye is a flat bobble, just like a dot stitch, but done in one row. The cable at the very top of the bag is a ring cable, so it closes with a multiple slipped stitch decrease.
Funny what can grow from a joke.
