Getting the Dishes Washed – and keeping up with Shakespeare at the same time

I don’t know about you; but I will much more cheerfully wash dishes, mop the floor, or tidy the workshop if I have a fun podcast on.  I usually just play them off my desktop speakers, so the parts of my house away from the sounds are a bit more neglected – I’ll still never win a tidy Homeschool Mom award.  Here are some of my favorites

Craftlit Listen to literature, keep up with Heather’s crafting, interact with other listeners.  She got me into Tangling.

Forgotten Classics A bit like Craftlit in that some one reads to you with a little bit of background info, but the choice of books is a little more eccentric.  Oh what a gorgeous voice Julie the narrator has!

Chopbard Oh THAT’s what that bit of Shakespeare was about, including the jokes.

Writing Excuses Several writers discuss tight writing topics to get you to finally write your whatever it is.  Surprisingly helpful in thinking about knitting/crochet design.

The World and Everything In it you have to have a subscription for this one, but it is a weekday news show from a Christian worldview perspective.

The YarnThing Podcast Marley Bird’s cheerful interviews with people who make yarn, make patterns, publish patterns, in knitting or crochet…she really digs interesting people up.  And giggles a lot.

The Creative Yarn Entrapreneur Business Advice for knitting/crochet/yarnies/people who sell on Etsy…teaching business at a college is her day job, so she knows how to speak clearly and keep organized, but it doesn’t feel lecture-ish.

While She Naps Podcast Abby Glassenberg writes sewing patterns, reflects on running businesses, and recently co-founded the Craft Industry Alliance I’m figuring out if my micro/micro business can afford to join, or can’t afford not to join.

Tara Swiger More business advice, with more book recommendations than I can keep up with, I somehow thought if I put them all on hold at the library that they would arrive slowly and I could read them one at a time – what was I thinking, my library is efficient.

I own Tara’s book Market Yourself, I’m still processing and working through some of it – like keeping my website consistent…um, I’ll upload links to the Herringbone Mitten on the other tab…in a few weeks?  When I remember how to write html and interface with my hosting server which has updated…?

Power Purls Podcasy a  real editor talking about what design submissions get chosen?  Tell me more!  (But I’m still not promising to get up any earlier than I do now.)

I finished  my first pair of Cadeautje, they were going to be for K, but they came out too large, so they are M’s instead.  He’s fine with that.  I bought some pink wool to make K anther pair, she’s fine with that too.  Yeah!  I’ve knit  my first OOP for the year.

And finally, an exercise song from the Yarn Alive Ladies in Japan.  Sometimes we start homeschool with it, that giggly baby off camera makes my day.  And it takes care of achy carpal tunnel wrists and stressed out necks and sore hands that JUST CAN’T WRITE HOMEWORK ANYMORE.
