How do Short Row Slides work in cotton and linen?

Lindsay asked me how Short Row Slides work in non-wool yarn. Last night all my family went to chess night at the library, so I popped “Your Name” into the DVD so I could look at the sets and try to figure out the characters better, and made two swatches. (I did the dishes first).

Short Row Slides in ribbing in cotton yarn. The swatch lay mostly flat even before blocking. I lost the belly band of the cotton I used, but I'm sure it was not organic, and I'm pretty sure it was Mercerized.
