My friend Leslie (Blueeyedcrafty) told me that as long as I was writing a rectangular pattern for afghans, I should figure out the sizes for a few rectangular shawls. My main excitement was the 8 pointed star that short row slides enable.
I finished the sample in the autumn. I’d made a dress to match my shawl with grey top stitching to match the silver. We had an overcast day and our daughter was at tutoring at the library. Dan took off from work early to take photos. A new dress, kids elsewhere, a project to do with Dan? Totally a date.

I love the Octan pattern and tried to download it or get it on your website. I subscribed to your newsletter, etc. but was unable to get the pattern here or on Ravelry after subscribing. Can you please help me discover what I’ve done wrong? I can hardly wait to get started on this gorgeous shawl.
Thank you.
Hi Judy,
The link to the file comes in the welcome to my newsletter letter in a few minutes after signing up, you can look in your in-box in your e-mail. But just in case it went missing (some have done that) I’ll e-mail it to you at your website right now.
This is SO cool… love that the shoot turned into a date too. Do current subscribers get your amazing and generous gift as well?
Yes they will, in fact, it should be in their e-mail boxes as I type this.
