My friends and I were sitting around the kitchen table listening to our children more or less entertain each other.
Having a hands free moment, I dug out my sweater sample and starting knitting. “How can you bear to have wool on your lap in this heat?” my friend asked (in a wonderfully supportive friend kind of way.)
I blinked, and replied, “I have a deadline.”
You know you are a designer when there is wool on your lap in summer, and linen lace in winter, because the samples need to be ready in time to publish for when the sane people want to make things.
