Attleboro Sweater

Bet’cha is named for a bet with myself that I really could figure out a way to render the design of the crocheted Attleboro Sweater (above in green) in knitted stitches. (Below in watermellon and storm)

Like the Attleboro Sweater, the ribbed body included bust shaping by switching to a stitch pattern with more ease.

The yoke was the tricky part, my first tech editor was (of course, what was I thinking?) right, it’s hard to do arches, “X”es and curves in knitting.  They are just different.

So I dug in forgotten corners of the Treasuries of knitting patterns, and Nicki Epstein books, isolated some bits from other stitch patterns, and swatched.

Then my knitting skills out distanced my pattern writing skills.  But fortunately, there are such things are Ravelry forums, and then Kate Atherley wrote Pattern Writing for Knit Designers.

The one major difference is the cuffs, I skipped them in Bet’cha.  If I get three comments asking for them, I’ll publish a pattern for them on the blog.
