Mood Boards are one way publishers call for designs for books or magazines. Usually there are some descriptions of the desired items, then a collage of images, not always of garments. Sometimes it’s just words describing a mood. It takes me four days to come up with any ideas. Water must have something to do with ideas flowing because I’m either bathing a child, washing dishes or walking by the 10- mile river when I finally think of what I would submit, if I were submitting.
I haven’t yet had any submission accepted. I’ve decided this year to look at mood boards and make a design in my head, but since my actual working time is limited by real life, I’m not submitting until I finish up this year’s 5 patterns. (In other words, Mamma Bear won’t let me.)
I click over from the Ravelry Design forum. Yes, yes, yes, all pages must have contact information, in the pdf, don’t put it in the e-mail, where are the pictures.
Butterfly: Ooo! Pretty!
Editor: What do you think we should make Butterfly?
Butterfly: Wait for it.
Mamma Bear: Are people really wearing such low necklines? For Winter? You are NOT designing a top like that.
Patternist: How would you construct a low top? Would you include boning so it’d stay up? Would you sew in ribbon to snap under the bra strap? The engineering could interesting.
Mamma Bear: You are NOT designing a top like that.
Patternist: I was only exploring technique, people need under layers, people need underwear. They don’t have to wear them immodestly.
Mamma Bear: You are NOT designing a top like that.
Editor: Let’s look at the fabric and color suggestions, maybe that will spark something else; Butterfly?
Butterfly: Wait for it.
Patternist: I just want a schematic and a swatch. Then it’s all nice numbers. Butterfly?
Butterfly: Wait for it.
Mamma Bear: There’s the egg timer, time to get some real work done now.
Butterfly: Hey, someone grab a sketch pad, I’ve got an idea!
